Stuck diff drain plug
Discussion
Well the diff drain plug is now a royal pain to get out, with the exhaust layout with the pipe straight back from the centre box.
I can just about get a half inch spanner on it but one corner is rounded so I only have 3 ways to approach it. And the half in spanner isn't long enough to get enough torque to budge it with my puny arms ;^)
I can't find my big adjustable and the plumbing stilsons are too rounded to bite...
I have already loosened the filler plug and really wanted to do the diff oil today if possible.
Thinking cap on but watching the GP now so have an hour and a bit to come up with a solution.

I use a torque wrench of which I can take out the 'male' inner to undo it.
What you could do is to lengthen it by putting in an 1/2 inch extension out of the socket set on it...., think it could work, but am not under the wedge at the moment
as space is required for that.
Then perhaps it can become more accessible, you get a full square on the drain plug and even can put more torque
on it at the nice accessible end.

Yeah there is no room between the exhaust pipe and the plug for that.
Success though - one of my 1/2" spanners has a ring end - and with a bit of 1/2" hex bar I can add another ring spanner, doubling the length so I could apply extra torque - it budged - job done!
Now it's drained, to refill it.

If you mean what oil am I covering myself with and spilling on the garage floor - what a messy job! THe filler bottle I was using decided to blow its top a couple of times.
Then I didn't notice it was filled and spilt 100ml on the floor - yeauch.
Anyhow it's castol hypoy ls. I had a couple of litres left from when I last changed it.
I got about 1.5l out so it hadn't lost much over probably about 50k miles.
