Just a couple of weeks now before 'Nige' goes back on the road after a ten year layup. The cunning master plan is to take him to the Le Mans Classic, in fact he's booked on the ferry!
I'm changing all hydraulics whether they look knackered or not. Ive come to the clutch master cylinder & am in a quandary what to do. I see you can buy M C rebuild kits which have seals etc. for under a tenner.... is this an easy diy job or should I get it done by a professional? I do have reasonable, but non professional mech skills.
The car is a standard, early 350i.
I look forward to your thoughts.

m/cs are cheap. don't bother rebuilding. doesn't even have to be the exact part, as long as same bore. an m/c is an m/c, on motorbikes wouldn't think twice about putting one from anything else on anything else as long as nice quality and good condition, brembo etc. my s series has brand new master and slave from land rovers and brand new decent quality was only 20-30 quid m/c and slave about a tenner!!!!! and sure you can do the same kind of thing with a wedge! but then went and spend about 100 quid on goodridge (make it up yourself rebuildable) line and stainless fittings between the two ;-)

I also converted master and slave to LR 110 ones though I try and gear Bearmach ones if possible as they are quality, but still around £12 for the master so cheap as chips.

Also when changing over you might find the pipe ends are different thread, I have an adapter on the master and a short adapter pipe I made up on the slave end. But it's well worth it 'cos the TVR threaded originals are three times the price.

i paid a bit more for TRW stuff as i think it is better than the bearmach stuff but still a fraction of what the so called 'tvr specialist' robbers charge for the same stuff!

The original type was the same used on the Lotus Cortina and I think the TR6... casting number is (from memory, what sort of geek am I biggrin) 64676310, bore is 0.70".

I think it may also have been used on Triumph saloons ? Not sure. It seems to have been used on a lot of Landys too, as I remember.

Thanks for all your replies. I bought the LR one that Zig recommended. All went on fine, the thread was different but have adapted as Adam suggested and it all seems to fit fine.
