I've got a broken pair that some muppet before me ground through the casting and exposed one of the o ring chambers. might be repairable but I didn't risk it and bought a Hispec 4 pot upgrade which is BRILLIANT.....

best to get them serviced also before fitting, as 90% of them out there will have rusty pistons.

I've been told that also one of the Toyota Pickup/Ute 4 pot calipers fit perfectly with no mods. Anyone done this ?
Maybe an early Hilux ??

i am quite happy to buy a pair from cheap brake calipers if everybody thinks they are ok as it would cost as much as this to refurb an old pair

I spent almost £140 on new parts to refurb a pair... that was using stainless pistons which were £80 by themselves.

I just got a boring head for mill, so I could try and weld and re-bore the o-ring chamber.

Hi Leigh, as far as I'm concerned they are now paper weights so if you want them and can do anything with them then they're yours. The pistons are all good and I've got a new seal kit, pipes, pins etc ready as well.

Hi, it was a full conversion kit from Hispec which included 295mm 28mm grooved vented discs, Billet 4 calipers, stainless flexibles, pads and all bolts and nuts required. The only fiddly bit was modifying the steel dust guards to accomodate the larger calipers. Total kit with VAT, shipping etc was £685. You do have a choice of disc type - i.e. grooved, drilled, grooved and drilled, plain. You can also select from a range of different pads and also caliper paint finishes. Red was a little more expensive than basic colours. Performance is superb even though I'm only running standard road pads. Cheers.

Looks a good upgrade...Pads...Disc's and master cylinders all have positive effects on overall braking performance.

Sometimes people can fit calipers without seeing an overall change but do when changing for a bigger master cylinder, I actually noticed albeit a small improvement over the standard calipers with a spacer so they could accommodate a vented disc.

I did notice a big improvement on the standard calipers on the 280i when i upgraded to Ap calipers and vented disc.
