Hi, Can anyone advise me on the NM torque for stainless exhaust manifolds on the V8. Is it the same as cast manifolds ?
thanks
martin.

Would expect it to be the same, as normally torque settings are based on bolt size and material its beening screwed into.

From memory, it's 15lbs ft - I'll let you do the conversion. Trouble is, you wont be able to to get a torque wrench on a few of the bolts anyway. Even with the reduced head ARP bolts I'm using, and with a 3/8 drive wrench, it wasnt possible to get them all. I'd suggest just using a decent ring spanner, and doing it by feel (not tighten it up till it breaks and back off half a turn biggrin ). As Leigh said, it's the ally head that's the deciding factor, not the manifold material.

I dont think you will have any problems with allen bolts.
I made my own version of the arp studs for my ss manifolds

A good way is to torque up to just less on some easy ones say 13lbf, then use the spanner to tweak it a little, to get the feel for it. Then re-use the torque wrench at 15lbf and if it clicks and only moves a little you are spot on.
