I might have missed a posting on this one but immaculate 280i on flea, fully restored.

Nothing to do with me but photos of rebuild look impressive. For a fully refurbished early Wedge it looks good value to me. And in red - for those that like that colour confused

Tidy enough but several shades of un-originality... wrong wheels and the car's too early for a Zender boot spoiler, for starters.
White-faced instruments? That probably explains the 5800 miles.

Just saying wink

Nice looking but agree on the mileage issue.

How can any serious car seller list a mileage as "on the clock" ?? Bleedin obvious its not done 6k in 30 years and bordering on misrepresentation. Wonder how many past MOT's certs they've got ? Seems daft to go into so much detail about the car and then do that.

Looking on the website, there is no MOT history.

It must have been in long term storage waiting for a rebuild. Now that it has been totally rebuilt, it seems the mileage is from the time of rebuild and hence what's on the clock. It looks like an Irish number so it may have been used there for a while. Does mot history apply there? There is no doubt though, that a lot of money and time has been spent to bring it to this level. At a guess I'd say the asking money is less than the cost of the rebuild. If it drives as good as it looks, it has to be a bargain. Underpriced if you ask me.

Thats 200 miles a year... smile

Its a shame as its had all that work done....Trouble is there are bigger engined Wedges out there in as good condition for the same if not less money...If it was an original car then maybe.....Sad but true....Still a nice car even if its a mis-fit....

Went to see this one earlier and its a genuine car with a TVRCC owner.

He's owned it for ~10 years and had done nothing with it until about 18 months ago when they started a full mechanical rebuild. Everything mechanical has been replaced or refurbished, which would definitely cost more than they are selling it for if done by one of the specialists. It has a new MOT and drives as you’d expect. The handbrake works well too!

It had a number of non-standard items when he bought it, including the wheels, spoiler, door mirrors and gauges, as well as a not too good respray. The previous owner said the engine had been rebuilt and the mileometer zero’d at that time, which explains that.

Oddly, although the V5 says it is a 1983 car, it was registered in 1995 and has had 4 owners since. So maybe it did go abroad at some point and was re-registered when it came back? It had also changed from blue to red.

I didn’t buy it though, as like many I’ve been to see recently, it would require quite a bit of work (mostly expense in my case) to get it into the condition I’d be happy with (paint, interior, wheels, instruments etc.) which added to the top retail price being asked, doesn’t make economic sense in my case.

So I’m still looking for a top wedge at a sensible price.
