Hi yoi might be right, but yours does seem to have a black moulding just before the back wheel arch where as my 390 is flat.
Nice piccy!
Come on lets see her....Even the scabby horses are loved on here.....Nice piccy!

Besides if she is what you were told then i wouldn't go altering the body...Although whilst you are the custodian you have the full right to do so as you wish....I very nearly put wheel arches and a spoiler on the 280i when i first got her and she was going to be matt black well hard...Unfortunately for me and fortunately for her i had to spend most of the money getting her to a reliable condition ...It would be amazing if she turned up at the fest....Although it would probably bring a tear to my eye...

Cheers Mike, been in garage for the last year, but recently fully serviced and past her MOT after a few minor surgical procedures shall we say, back with me soon then off for a makeover, including those wheels as they are a little dull now.
Can`t make BBWF this year, but come hell or high water, will do next year.
Ooh you have 2 of them, nice (pics?) Just something about that sleek wedge shape that does it for me!

The wheelarch flares started with the 390SE; ths first cars had no rear flares and a small front leading edge flare that was formed as part of the new airdam that included the brake cooling air ducts.
Then to further distinguish the 390 from the 350 the flares got bigger and were added to the rear arches as well; the sills defined the leading edge of the rear arch and the trailing edge of the front arch.
If you look closely at a 390 shell (and presumably the 420 too) you'll see the joins where the arches were just added to the base 350 shell using mat/gel/filler, they didn't change the mould.
So adding them to a standard shell would just be down to how carefully you can recreate what the factory did (and they didn't always get them symmetrical either side of the car!)
Possibly the easiest way would be to start with a spare set of 390 sills and use them as a guide for the rest of the arch, but 390 panels are like virgins in Middlesbrough... a bit thin on the ground
