I had a dull 30 minutes so I've added up the costs todate spent on trying to sort out the 390SE. I bought it as a non-runner for £4500, spent £220 having it transported across to Leominster, £929 garage labour finding the main fault (camshaft), replacing camshaft, oil pump, radiator, stripping the bottom end to clean all the crap out of the sump etc, rebuilding the diff and 4 wheel alignment and parts todate have cost £1970 excluding service items, so just over £7,600 todate with a further £1000 expected with work Mark Adams will be doing on it.

We certainly don't buy our Wedges to make a profit!

Keith, you'll still be behind what i have spent on the 390 so don't feel too bad, i think i could have bought top notch 400se for the money but i think half the fun is is in the spending and getting these things how we ant them.
Zig says 8-9k for a sorted 390; i'm losing all the way to the bank thenyikes But who cares i love it.
A sorted 390 is also a rare car and as we keep saying, one day people will realize what a secret gem the wedge is.

I worked out a couple of months back that I'd passed the £4K mark for spending on my 390SE, which I bought for £6000 16 years ago next month. That works out at £250 a year maintenance costs.
Mind I'm a rank amateur compared to the two previous owners who between them spent £21,000 on it in 9 years.

I dont know and wont add up what it has cost me, not just in direct costs but all the indirect random stuff I have had to spend on the Mrs to keep her sweet.

I do remember that the worst single bill was for about £1100 to sort out the previous owners bodges, some of it for the heads skimming etc and some for repair of the cooling system that had been monkeyed with to cover up the failed head gasket.
