280i injectors - clean or replace?
Discussion
So with the effort to pull the plenum to get at the injectors, is it more prudent just to put new ones in or will giving them a clean really make a difference?. I'm pretty sure I have one leaking, as the plug is wet when pulled. The cost to clean is about half of the replacement cost. I'd hate to buy a cleaning/pressure test kit then end up buying new injectors.
I've removed them in the past, put all six in separate jars, run the pump and lifted the air sensor plate, you will be able to check the spray pattern, also good to spray it onto some tan colour card, to double check the spray pattern. You should also check the flows for being equal.
These are standard checks recommended in the Bosch K maintenance manual (I used to have a training video somewhere, likely all on youtube these days). Probably not recommended these days with the caution towards fire and the world being elf n safety mad,
If you have duff injector(s), possibly best to replace as there isn't a huge price differential.
