I had a close shave at the weekend. After backing the TVR out of the garage to work on it, I noticed a strong smell of petrol from under the bonnet. A quick check showed that the fuel hose that runs from the metal supply pipe on the drivers side inner wheel arch to the fuel pressure regulator had been chaffing against another pipe and was seeping petrol. I've changed the hose but the route that the supply and return hoses both take passes very close to the brake master cylinder and then rests on top of some device connected to the master cylinder and then rests on the vacuum intake hose before it reaches the regulator. It seems to me to be a long run of flexible hose to get from the wheel arch to the fuel regulator. It doesn't matter how much I cable tie them to various points under the bonnet, they still find their own route (being flexible) and end up rubbing against the master cylinder and the other items. So, the question is, how do you mount flexible hose so that it doesn't chafe against anything with possibly disastrous results? I've tried looking at under bonnet photos but none show the routing for these hoses. Any help would be appreciated. I don't want the TVR to go up in flames after all the work I've done on it.

One thought is rather than worry about the routing to put it is a protective sheath - like this stuff:

Seems durable:
Resistant To Auto Fluids & Chemicals
Temperature Range -40F To 200F (-40C - 93C)

Just a thought...

Hi mate.

Not sure what to suggest as the 400SE has the feed routed via the wheel arch.

Hopefully someone with a 400SE can post a pic of theirs...smile

Hi

Grady has a good idea with regard protecting the fuel hoses.
The pipe coming out of the inner wheel arch can be bent so you can get it to run away from the master cylinder. If there is not enough pipe through the wheel arch then Grady's will work well.
