Simon, I'm sure you done your research, but the Mk2 Granny also has a tie bar in that location - unfortunately the picture in the Haynes manual is not detailed enough to tell whether it is the same as the ones TVR used. Any idea how it is different? I'd be surprised if they fabricated something like that.

Just wondering, any reason from yourself or others for the negativity towards Andy?
The b
hing on here is pathetic, and IS keeping like minded enthusiasts away, creating a loss for the Wedge series of cars.
Chris.
To be honest, it hasn't kept our resident "expert" away from this thread. He must be getting lonely on the TVRCC forum. The b

Plus the original question from number7 was quite a valid one, bearing in mind the old thread on wiper arms.

Chris, this is not the forum for discussion of your first question. All I will say is that there are very strong feelings involved. The b

A lot of Wedge owners are now using the Wedge Facebook group, and although I was previously negative about FB in general, now that I have joined, I'm glad I did - it is a good place to frequent.
As to the question, my intention was to establish for future reference whether the part was special to TVR or not. Simple as that.
Guys,
Regardless of feelings there is no need to try to be condescending. All it does is spoil what could and used to be a good resource.
I have a pretty good knowledge of Wedge series cars with having them now for near 30 years, but sadly I'm reluctant to share it on here as there is just too much b
hing. I don't do FB and have no intention, I guess that's pretty much like here as is the TVRCC forums. Give me PH of 10 years ago!
As to is the part a special...No, it's a Ford item, how easy they are to come by, rather difficult I would imagine as the donor cars are now 30+ years old and anything with the blue oval from that period is demanding silly money.
Chris.

Gents if a Wedger is in need and Andy has a suitable spare to offer then despite all historic b
hing we should just let it rest and not use this thread as another excuse for "having a go". Personally I prefer to keep Facebook for just close friends and family. The attraction of using this PH forum has certainly been tarnished as a result of recent behaviours from a few. For me the PH forum is my first choice for technical advice but every thread shouldn't be an excuse for yet another snide remark. It's not always what is said but rather the way it is said. Just my view.

I am not aware that this was a special... It's listed on the Granny and Ford Taunus front suspension schematics??

Chris, no condescension intended. Your original post mentioned that it was a TVR special - interested as to why you thought that? Coincidentally, I think Glen posted a picture and link to Ebay on the Wedge Facebook group for an entire Ford front axle and suspension assembly of the type the Wedges use a few days ago.Regardless of feelings there is no need to try to be condescending. Is your own not repairable?
Without trying to be condescending and appreciating that not all wedgers have an engineering background, the likelihood of a part being a 'TVR special' is in inverse proportion to the complexity involved in producing it - the more involved or costly it is, the more likely it was lifted directly from another car. In the case of the tie-rod it's a forging and as processes go, forging is one of the most expensive (for small volumes).
Fabrication, such as A-frames, pod motor brackets, even chassis, is relatively simple. Casting in small volumes is usually by sand-casting which is far cheaper than die-casting in small volumes - think diff top beam, the V6 'special' exhaust manifold. One of the Rover V8s downsides is that it was sand-cast right to the end of production, using a lot of alloy, unlike modern die-cast blocks and heads that are designed to use as little metal as possible.

Hi Guys
I find it so amusing that a simple request for help to find a part
has almost the same effect as Germany invading Poland
And starting a world war
Its no wonder I so seldom use this forum-
But if any one does have the offending part please PM me
Simon
The way I see it, Andy (MrTank) was just being helpful by offering to look for the part requested, yet he has been verbally attacked by a few rude people on this forum who are purely arrogant and have no respect or consideration for others on the forum. It is a sad situation for which there is no solution, and will carry on happening as long as these rude people are on this forum. That is the very reason I rarely use this forum now and refuse to attend the BBWF for the same reason involving the same people. Sorry to bring this up again, but I just had to have my say.I find it so amusing that a simple request for help to find a part
