Replacing the steering rack - helpful pointers welcome

After a little investigating I have found the play in my steering is in the rack, so a new one will be needed. Inner and outer tie-rods are all good. It looks pretty straight forward but if any one has any tricks to share I would be grateful, hoping to make the job as painless as possible. 86' 280i LHD with the Cortina rack.
