Hi all

Does anyone please have a scan or a link to a scan of a brochure or press release or similar for the TVR 430 SE?

Thanks!

I doubt anything exists as there were only three cars made and they were actually 400SE with the 4.3 Chimaera engine fitted. The name 430SE is sort of "unofficial" but still valid.

Welll this scan at least mentions it, so even if it was short-lived I'm guessing it was official in some sense:

I have a wedge sales brochure/price list from around 89, lists 400 and 450 SE only though.

I doubt if there is much official literature of these cars but good luck searching.

Having one of the supposedly only three 430 SE's, my log book and brochure are marked as 400 - 450SE. As far as I know there was nothing produced specifically. Check my profile if you want a picture.

Griff engine. Chimp had not been designed.

Valid because it is an official model and model name. The 430SEs and not post wedge days converted cars using later engines like the 500SEs they are another version of the Wedge.

A type approval thing.

With reference to the above link, what's the difference between a Griff targa and a Griff Convertible?

Bit late to respond to this but may as well.

I own one of the three 430SE. The story I have from the factory when it was still there was the 3 cars were produced specifically for the motor show and they were finished in 3 specs and colours. One car was then chosen to be placed on the stand at the motor shows in NEC b'ham and Earls Court alongside the new Griffith 4.3. Rumour has it that Andy Rouse Racing was involved in the engine set up etc but not sure how valid that info is.

The car chosen to show the last of the wedges and the birth of the Griff happened to be mine. (I have a picture) Pearlescent mint white, grey hood and full dark green leather OZ racing split rims. Seems louder than the 400 and 450 for some reason.

All decals were 430SE but no brochure was ever produced (why would they?)
Only change to my car since is re-hooded in green and new alloy roof struts but still have originals.
Car is going for full refurb in 2019 to bring back to glory and attend the BBWF 2020.

Hope this helps
Cheers Steve

Back in the day on the TVR email group the 4.3 engines were rumoured to have "bin lid" inlet and exhaust valves which may explain the noise.

If you have had the heads off you would check, otherwise maybe a boroscope down a spark plug hole, but it might be a bit hard to tell.
