Morning chaps ....... and chapesses

Can anyone help with the following?

I seem to have lost power to my cabin fan (for what good it is) and the electric mirrors on my 400se.
I checked all the fuses under the dash I could see at the weekend and they all seem ok.

Is there a second fuse box or something I do not know about?

Mine was a burnt out contact in the switch. It had gone HR. I took it apart and it had heated up to the extent of softening the main rocker support and deforming it to the extent that it was un repairable. Switch flipping but the contacts not making.

PS the slow speed still works, its only the fast speed that doesn't.

The boot solenoid is also on the same circuit, so if that's not working either I'd suggest actually trying a new fuse, or looking at the connections behind the fuse for a problem.

Behind the trim panel in the boot. Sometimes the actuating cable frays and breaks, causing a non-opening boot.I'll have a look for some numbers on mine.

Re solenoid, if it is shot, got mine from Peninsular. they asked me a few questions about the cabling and poped it in the post.

Boot solenoid is a standard central locking motor. Nowt flash, used to be a fiver from Maplins. There's a trick you can try to rule out fuse, boot release switch etc....

I had a problem like this, but it was the electric mirrors and the instruments - everything including the fuses seemed ok. It was only when a brand new fuse was put in that everything worked again!

Thanks for the responses chaps, when I got home I tried Paul’s suggestion and checked the boot situation, the boot opened OK, “bugger” thought I.

Then I thought let’s just try the fan one last time……. Yeah hay! It worked and so did the electric mirrors.

So it looks like taking out all the fuses at the weekend checking them and putting them back did the trick, much like Redwedge5’s situation. Can’t believe I did not try the fan one last time after I put the last fuse back

Thanks again everyone, just in time to get the top off this weekend and hit the loud pedal
