Gear stick position

By looking at the photo can anyone tell me if I have the gear stick in the correct position or should it be turned 180 degrees, As it is , the stick hits the tunnel when selecting 1st & Reverse

If memory serves me correctly that dosent look right. Im sure it should be angled to the left not forwards. I will dig up some pictures of mine and confirm.

Is the fat rusty bit at the bottom of the stick not attached to the ball by a lump of rubber? It's possible the 'upper' bit of stick has twisted round on the rubber.

I can confirm that your gear stick is in the wrong position it should have the rusty bracket pointing left.

Thanks for all the replies,and thanks for sorting through your photos Jon, and confirming my error. The box has recently been reconditioned and only been driven up and down our short drive, all gears are selectable except 5th , hopefully it will appear when things get warmed up on the way to the MOT.
