Tried searching through some old threads without much success - just need some definitive opinions for a set of new 15" Tyres. Toyos seem to be getting a kicking, Michelins - too expensive. So far Uniroyal Rainmasters seem to be getting good reviews - Any suggestions would be appreciated!
Thanks

We put uniroyal on my lads 350i they seem to be very good and good value for money Thanks
Uniroyal Rainsport 3 is an excellent all round tyre imho. Fitted to the T cars.
Dunlop Blueresponse is another excellent tyre too. Fitted previously to the Box and again great all round. Well thought off over on the S Forum where they are fitted to many members cars including those who use their cars on trackdays.
I currently have Nankang NS-2R fitted to Wendy as I've been doing trackdays. 195/55 Hard compound and they have been fine on road too. No issues in the rain - had some flood like conditions on the last two S Club Tours and the tyres performed great.
The Box has a set of Michelin Crossclimate fitted now and they are great but a strange buzz around 65mph.

Im running Toyos T1Rs on my SEAC and think they are prity good but also fance a secong set of wheels with 888 on them for the summer months.
I would think that any good quality tyre with a softish compound and a good speed rating should be fine along with good geometry to maximise the way the car feels on the road.

Vredestein Ultrac Cento on the 16". Happy with them, but not during a hot day on a track.
For the original 350i wheels I am looking for new tyres and am thinking of:
- Vredestein sportrac5
- Dunlop Bluresponse
Both get good reviews and are available in a standard 205/60R15 with V-rating,
.... or Nankang NS-2R (street compound)to see what that would be like, especially on a track, but are not available in a 205/60

Had these 205 55 15 on the front of my old chimaera (225 x 16" on the back) very impressed and only a tad more expensive vs toyo http://www.blackcircles.com/catalogue/bridgestone/...
I'd have these again on my 420 but they don't do 225 50 15 in the bridge stones

I bought a pair of 225 wide Sportrac 5s but had a brain fart and ordered 60 profile instead of 50 so they were clouting the wheelarches over bumps. That was when I plumped for fitting the SE wheels with a set of Toyo T1Rs all round so I have the Vredesteins just sat there, they've done about 50 miles. In that short time I've decided I liked them better than the hateful Toyos. You could lose a posse of illegal immigrants in the tread pattern; the car wriggles like a 6th-former after two J2Os and in the wet it's slippier than a Bon Jovi album. For the original 350i wheels I am looking for new tyres and am thinking of:

I had budget Eurotour 408s on it for years and they stuck like Donald Trump's toupee in comparison.

Good road holding, very good grip when barking in the wet and dry.

Barking mad, perchance?

I have 195/55/15 'Hard' [Street] compound fitted to both Wendy and the Reserve without issue. Work great on the track and turn 'on' really quick. They come up quite big so the difference is marginal.Rob
I have 225/50/16 'Hard' fitted to Tamy despite the consensus on here being that the car would be undriveable??????
They are pretty cheap tyres so I would say just go for it.
i still haven't got round to changing the rubber mine came with as i have been working on getting the car running right and rewiring for reliability but it is now usable so am starting to think about what to replace the old but unworn khumos, i had assumed that the owner before last who bought the khumos bought the wrong profile (205/60x15) because i noticed the other day that in the wedge bible (p221) steve heath says it should have 205/50x15 as standard. but you guys are talking about coming down from 60s to 55s. so was this a mistake in the bible? what is the best tyre SIZE not brand for the 7j x 15s i have? i don't like the way the car feels on 60s (very remote, can't feel the road) and was thinking 50s would give a lot more feel as well as grip. according to sh only the 14 inch wheels should have 60s!

I've run 205/55/15's on the 350i, you hardly notice any difference.
