350sx Road Test

Strangely enough, though it may be subjective... even my non-turbo Esprit often feels faster than the TVR.
There's a particular sliproad that I always hoof it down (good vis of the road I'm joining) and the Esprit seems to cover the distance quicker.
In addition, the carbed Lotus twincam seems more suited to 'drop one and floor it' driving than the injected V8 with all that flywheel effect.

Fingers crossed Mike B will be able to acquire it for the read tests section of Wedgepages. The only other road test he's got in there at the moment is my 450 SEAC
Be nice if he put mine up,Tim spent a lot of time doing it.It's ok though i will get my own back when he needs some correct info on the 660,not the rubbish he has at the moment.

A mate of mine has recently bought one of the last non-turbo Giugiaro Esprits, and on a quick blast there appeared to be not much in it. Although that could have been due to my Mrs. being in the car shouting at me for driving too fast

Yeah, I think that's the most obvious difference! First time I took Dexy out down a particular road we know, I just kept the power on and steered. In the TVR I'd have been up and down the box, on and off the brakes, in and out of M&S for new undies...

I have a list of things to do to the site as long as your arm. And I do try to action them as soon as i can.
Don't even think for a minute that i don't appreciate it when people send items in, but as I don't get paid for doing the site, unfortunately I have to fit in in around other things like going to work, looking after the family, shopping, watching the rugby, taking the kids out and driving my own TVR (when I can)!
The article will be online shortly and it will look a milion dollars, you just have to bear with me, unless of course you wanna give me a hand processing and coding it on the weekend?

Sorry you lost me When you mentioned codes.By the way do you have the straight through exhaust pipe that was with your car?
always wondered what it would sound like with it fitted.The bloke from London had it made when he blue printed the engine,thats if its the same car i looked at.

Thought for a minute i was on the wrong forum and listening to the editor of a well known TVR magazine .....

Sorry butty but i've just wet myself laughing!!
It is the same 450SE I dug out a receipt for the custom exhaust and it is straight through until the last bit where it goes into a small can at the back of the car.
Although i dosent sound that it's doing much. It does however pass too close to the fuel tank for my liking and another of my 'to do' jobs is to wrap the last bit in heat wrap to keep the heat down. Ain't harmed it in all the years the exhaust has been on but still....
i am growing to like the noise slowly (very loud and very abrupt) but I still prefer the 350i exhaust note I was following Simon in his 350i on Sunday and his was just howling. Following Wyn in his (my old) 350i and all I could hear was him over the top of my 450 and the stereo on top notch!
Will try to get the article up online this weekend.

There was a straight through pipe that went with the car,he only fitted it now and then due to the extreme noise
Going to a posh do this Saturday,i'm sure i can lower the tone

Great to find this road test. I had the originals from Autocar and Fastlane but lost them somewhere several house moves ago.
E319EEO was my first TVR, great machine, bought it from Haughin's in 1989 after a complete strip down and rebuild to check for engine wear from the supercharger.
Appart from the rear wheels rubbing occasionally on the wheel arches over the bumpy bits the car was faultless, although I was a regular at the local Shell station, they always knew it was comming with the whine, managed 80 mls between fill ups once...
Traded it for a new 400SE in 1990 which I still have.
Last saw E319EEO at a dealer in Nth England, can't remember the name, wheel arch paint had been fixed and the silver pinstripe replaced with gold.
If anyone here owns the car, I'd love to have some photos as those went adrift also.
