Afternoon All,

What type of filter have people fitted retro fitted to their beasties between the tanks and the fuel pump? Got some work to do in that area so thought I would 'upgrade' at the same time.

Fitted one of these to mine.

Been fitted a good few years now and had no problems. It also takes apart so you can replace the filter element.

Cheers Steve

I have a Sytec bullet on the 400SX but do make sure you use the gauze element not the paper one.

Or else you risk starving the pump.

I also fitted a Syvecs bullet to my 400SE. Initially with the paper filter element fitted, the engine misfired at high revs if the fuel tank was less than half full. Fitting a Syvecs mesh strainer instead of the paper element resolved that problem. This arrangement has worked satisfactorily for the last 15 years.

Forgot to add:- at the same time if fitted a ball type valve between the tank and the filter, which can be shut for filter inspection without having to empty the tank or try and clamp hoses.

That reminds me - probably about time I flushed out the gauze in mine. The valve sounds like a good idea but I usually clamp the pipe.
