Help! Changed oil in Gearbox today

OK car up on four axle stands and eyeball car to be as level as possible. Spirit level on the door cill as check (I assumed this to be on the horizontal)

Gearbox.
In goes 1.9 litres of oil to filler plug level!
Hand book states 1.4 and I think the Bible says 1.6
Am I that far out getting a level set up?

Can you please let know your experience with this?
I dont want to go busting any oil seals.

Used Castrol SMX-S fully synthetic SAE 75W - 85,
API GL 3/4

Yes, overnight drain
and if it all didnt come out and I have added 1.9 .....

Two interesting sentences given that standard is the very thin ATF. Do you think that the 75 is so thick that it won't need an oil seal or is too thick to reach it?

I change my gearbox oil to smx and i had to buy 2litres as 1.5 wasn't enough,had a little bit left.the TVR book said 1.5 litres.

I changed my oil in the gearbox and the change has been crap eversince. Crunchy as hell.

What was the new oil you put in and any idea what the old stuff was?
