Have any of you found LED bulbs that fit the small and large bulbs in the VDO gauges?

I replaced the dim filament bulbs behind the tachograph and speedo with green LED bulbs and they made a huge difference in actually seen the dials at night. I got them of fleabay. Bought a pack of 10 so I'll check tonight and put the details up.

I was able to locate a LED bulb for the small gauge application. The bulb is a BA7 with one LED which shines at a 100 Deg angle. Have to try it out and see if it puts enough light in the right place.

Hi, these were the type I fitted in the speedo and tacho. At night I now can actually see the dials, whereas before all I could see was a dull glow!

I thought we had (barely) piped in fiber optics. Did you also add bulb holders? Or is the fiber just for the small gauges? I've never had the main dash apart (yet). Grady

Just standard bulb holders on my gauges both on the 1988 35oi and 1986 390. Not sure what year the fibre optics were brought in?

KK,
That flebay link is for wedge style bulbs, or did you just supply the vendor you got them from? My bulbs are BA7 in the small gauges and I think BA9 in the tach and speedo.
Just confirming.

The bulb holders on my 350i have that connection on them it's just a coincidence that the description mentions Wedge. I'll get one of my spares out of the garage and show a photo. My 350i dashboard is the same as the SEAC 4 clock style unit. Best if you pop a bulb out to check yours is the same. Give me 15 minutes........

Okay on the right is the old filament bulb from the back of my speedo and tach and on the left the super bright new LED which I think is the same as the one shown on fleabay. Check to see if yours is the same.

Not like mine. Mine are the standard round bulbs. bA7 and the larger BA9.
I found some LED BA7's. Have to wait and see how they work. They are single LED's.
All of the BA9's I've found so far are to big to go into the bulb holder because the glass part is bigger then the base and has to slide into the holder.
The search continues.
