Does anyone know or have a list of the correct fuse ratings? Whilst investigating my stuck n/s headlight I noticed some may not be fitted with the correct amp fuses. I can't find my Bible at the moment either...

TIA

Edit to add: for an '87 420 SEAC

Try this. Should be OK if you can zoom a bit.

Excellent, thanks Grady. I assume the majority of the ratings are the same regardless of Wedge model?

That is actually the map for an US 1985 280i (it is what they used on 1986/87s over here). I have an US 280i 1986 map in my FSM. At some point I compared them and the only change was to add a 2nd fuse and relay for the 2nd fan.

I don't think the headlight wiring is different if you have pop-ups but can't confirm. Grady

Ok thanks, the fuses fitted are 20 amp..which I don't think is correct? Your map shows 15 amp..
It always baffles me why people risk their cars by fitting incorrect fuses. I am going through and replacing them all as some of them look ancient as well as possibly the wrong rating!

Hi Wayne

I hope the pic below helps. My SEAC has an extra couple of relays and one fuse which are for the headlight washers. If your SEAC's relay fuse layout doesn't match this the fuse ratings for the basic items should be the same.

So many replacement fuses are total shyte, you'll be lucky if they blow within 20 amps of there stated rating.

There was a post on PH some time ago, a chap tested a range of glass type car fuses, they blew way above their stated capacity!

Both my cars use blade fuses, I bought a couple of fuse boards off Ebay, full of hopefully original decent quality fuses, to get some spares.

Thanks Andy.. most helpful. If I can remember correctly, my fuse layout is pretty similar.

That's what worries me about some of these fuses. I always carry a fire extinguisher in my SEAC...just incase.

I have done the same, all my fuses are the large spade style. I have ordered a job lot from eBay. I even bought some from Halfords that shows a red light when the fuse has blown.

Go for glow fuses once you sus the fuse layout. Easy to find a problem if they blow.
