New to Forum recent 1985 Tasmin owner Help!
Discussion
New here, active on many other specific furums. Nice to be here. Recently picked up a 6 cylinder Tasmin 1984.. I guess that would be a 280i anyway she turns over but no spark. Where does the big round plug go to? Is there an ignition relay? If so which one? Where would one find printed or CD manual.

Hi welcome to the Wedge forum. The only real manual for Wedges was written by Steve Heath. They are not in print but regularly come up on ebay. The manual includes a full set of wiring diagrams, although several people have posted up extracts in the past. The other option is to buy a selection of manuals from the various donor cars. For the 280i I'm assuming Capri 2.8i for engine, it's Cortina mk 4 front suspension, Granada mk2 front brakes, Jaguar XJS/XJ6 diff and inboard brakes but with Granada hubs.

A picture of the "big round plug" to which you refer would be very helpful. Edited by Motomorrelli on Wednesday 12th April 16:04
Amazon occasionally has the wedge bible in stock. I got it a year ago, but at the moment there are only few around and they want £100 for it.
Searching for "tvr wedge maintenance" on Amazon UK should allow You to find the book.
Let's hope SH reprints it again and the price becomes manageable.
That said, I found that for neither of my wedges was there any wiring diagram I could trust to be found in the bible. Still handy to have around, but I'd not swear on it.

All Steve Heath's TVR books are still in print & available to buy direct from Steve. Despite rumours to the contrary, they've never been out of print.Searching for "tvr wedge maintenance" on Amazon UK should allow You to find the book.

Apart from the SH "bible", thje other thing worth obtaining is the parts manual, which has a lot of "exploded diagrams", although not many words, but you know what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words....
It shows how things come apart, but not necessarily how they go back together!
Another source of information is the forum itself, if you follow the "Welcome to the Wedge Forum" article above there's an FAQ Technical articles link, with the pick of many good stories posted up about solving common problems.
for some reason the Wiki function disappeared when we moved to this new format a couple of weeks ago.
