Seller may be prone to exaggeration in their description.
"And when new, these cars sold, back in the mid 1980s, for over $40,000"
More like 24k to 26k.
"original 205/60VR14 Goodyears had nearly zero wear but were nearly 40 years old"
As far as I can tell, original tires on a 1984 would be 33 years old now in 2017. I doubt they fitted nearly 7 year old tires from the factory.
