Seems the good old days are gone FRAM PH2821A seem to be a tenner each now.

Anyone know any reasonably-priced suppliers? Or reasonably-priced alternatives?

Well now FRAM are so expensive LR ones seem reasonable value.

I expect a pattern one from the usual 4x4 suppliers will turn up something good value - found one for £3 each so far.

Just bought one today from the local LR dealer. A bit more than eBay but lack of foresight meant I couldn't wait. Even so, it was only £16.67 including a new sump plug washer and VAT so can't complain.

Who buys sump plug washers? I must have done 15 oil changes since I got the 400SX and it's still on the same washer!

Mahle OC 261
Spin-on oil filter
Superior filter media and its processing prevent decomposition and collapse of the filter under extreme conditions such as repeated cold start and high dirt load. Bypass and check valves assure constant oil supply at all times.

£2.30 from Island 4x4

I would say Mahle seem to be a reputable company - so no risk there.

And you can pay as much as £18 for the same filter, so it must be good!

Can't be sure about the valve, but I use Mahle OC132.
I use Mahle OC261 under £5 on the bay and no problems. It's a Rover V8 filter In fact I think it's better than most other alternatives. Sorry about the earlier confusion with OC 132.
