Those "things" below are ballast resistors, could be a variant.

Usual function is to drop voltage to ignition coil but TVR had a habit of using them for other things, dimming dash lights being one scratchchin

The corroded state of that is why we should be soldering, and not crimping....

Yeah, lets introduce some highly corrosive flux into the equation, that'll help smile

Nah, that's all wrong.

What that is, is a special "SuperSparkScrewit (tm) device, designed by NASA to boost the spark to the spark plugs, which magically doubles the mpg and adds 50% to the power output, and needs special plug leads, and is made of a special alloy of unobtanium and Uranium 235 and will explode and raze an area of about 1 mile wide if you try to open it up with a screwdriver ....

They don't make them anymore, and if you tell anyone, the nuclear regulatory commission will be round damn quick to confiscate it. yikescop

So just clean it with some WD40, and don't you dare piss about with soldering, as when it gets hot, it gets unstable, and starts to glow bright green in the darkness.

What ??? Some people will believe ANYTHING.

I ain't going near the "crimp vs solder" thing again .....
