I ordered a new aluminium gear knob made to order with the gears inscribed on top. I just fancied a change to something different. Fitted today.

Definite improvement.. it's important that your knob looks good as you are displaying it for all to see!

Thanks for the compliments. This is the fourth bespoke knob I've had made with 5/16 UNC thread for a perfect fit. The one thing I hate is when your knob comes off in your hand. With this, there is no chance of that happening. Also, I've had the gears etched on the top of this new aluminum knob for good measure. Now, I can pick and choose my knob, from polished wood, black leather, red pool ball or the new aluminium. All depends what mood I'm in. Being threaded means swapping over takes just seconds and locked in place with a locking nut. Happy days.

I'm running with no knob at the moment because the remote linkage went floppy (despite me doing it before the b/g swap) and it's less weight so you get less bouncing on the propshaft.

An oily little job saved for the weekend.
