I think I will need a new one soon, so I statrted doing some research into these.

This is the Ford Granada/Sierra type with the triangular drive at the top from the steering wheel, and a 14mm spline at the bottom, in pressed steel.

It turns out these are getting hard to find. RT has stopped stocking them, he says to try Kiley (yes, her again!) and they may have a bit of a stock, though not listed on their website.

They don't seme to be available new from all the old Ford sites.

Luckily however I spotted one on the flea from a TVR 'S' that looks the same and looks almost brand new, so that'll do.

Yeah that's not a bad price for a new one (assuming the splined shaft diameter is correct) although their postage charges are unfathomable...

If some one (Alan wink ) hadn't "borrowed" my spare one I could measure it!

Well if you got it from there and it fits, then it must be OK.

I don't like that one. Good point I should have ordered one but I didn't. I would get mine from RS I think. I have another job to do while I'm there anyway see other post.

I thought the RS item will only fit round columns.

It does look a better solution though.

Good point now I know mine is triangular, but I would probably file three grooves in it, after all it only has to "grip the shaft" "as a push fit"...

Well removed the old loose one and replaced with the new one - only took about half an hour tops. And it's got rid of all the slack.

The bulkhead bearing is in pretty good shape too, so I slapped a load of grease around it.
