My rear brakes were recently seized.
I did spend plenty of time reading Ian's excellent pages but in the end just popped out the pads and levered the pistons to free them up.

Is it easter to take the rear subframe off to do the rear brakes and handbrake
Hi Colin. If you were just replacing pads then no but if you are replacing calipers then yes, However I'm not sure how easy or difficult this job is..
The diff is a heavy lump...And if you are going to this length then replace the discs and the handbrake pads...Also check the diff mounts which are the same as the trailing pin mounts....
Hope you sort it...

Actually the rear pads and calipers are (relatively) easy to change out on ramps alone with a creeper. A good magnetic light and mirror is very helpful. If you use ramps, you will need to jack each hub up a bit to adjust the e-brakes.
Never tried the calipers though I've I think I have read they can be changed w/o dropping the rear cage. Grady
