V5 is incorrect. I had the same problem with a 450SE I bought some time back and the V5 stated 350. I took the car to a main TVR agent and got them to check the car over and verify that it was in fact a 450. The details are found just under the oil dipstick within the engine number. They gave me a covering letter stating that it was a 450 and I sent that letter to DVLA with an explanation letter and a new V5 was issued to me with the correct details. It appears quite a few TVR's left the factory with incorrect details and owners never bothered to correct them the way I did.

My 390 and 450 were both designated as 350's (hence 3528 cc) from the factory on the V5. I queried it at the time and the reason was something along the lines of registering the bigger engined cars as 350's to avoid the expense of approval for a new model. Very TVR!

From an insurance point of view you may want to get It corrected as Tony did or at least inform your insurance company of the anomaly - if you're unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident any discrepancy such as this may lead to issues if you need to make a claim - insurance companies can be very finicky when it comes to paying out

Noticed the same thing in the logbook with the 400SE I just bought.
The NCK engine number matched V5 and Vin plate.

Thanks for the tip about confirming with insurance company.

This reminds me of the other TVR dodge - the "kit car".

I remember several times people remarked to me "kit car innit" when finding my car was - or I drove - a TVR.

But now I know where the myth comes from - they were supplied "as a kit" to avoid purchase tax (what came before VAT) or, at least, the luxury rate. This involved delivering the car without the wheels on, and the owner had to install the wheels, All very technical!
