After fixing Uglymugs 350i the other weekend (edited to say Ian fixed it) I fired up the SEAC to show Ian that it runs pretty rough from cold (horrible clanking noise and splutter) I've slowly improved this over the months but have never been really happy.
Straight away Ian said the exhaust manifold was leaking. - i've kinda known this but just ignored it as "one of those things that can wait"
However after fixing one of my headlight motors yesterday and chuffed with success, I decided to check out the manifolds. Lo and behold.....one outlet had 2 x allen bolts finger tight!! BINGO - fired her up and what a bloody difference
Now sounds as though Mighty Thor is striking his ANVIL as opposed to a sheet of tin plate
Performance improved throughout and 10db extra for the neighbours to savour in the mornings
Just goes to show the small things make a difference.
Thanks for pointing it out Wedg1e

Glad to be of service.
Now I have to fix mine, the bloody battery failed at the weekend...![]()
I got it...I got this one, It's the...................................................................................................................BATTERY its flat
If only it was that simple. Car started fine a week ago, turned the key on Saturday and only got the buzz of the solenoid. Sounds like a flat battery, I thought.
Gave it 12 hours charge, little window thingy is green, turn key, buzz.
Check voltage, check current from charger, give it a few more hours. Buzz.
Pinch battery from Esprit: vroooom. Try TVR battery on Esprit: click.
Bloody thing is probably still under warranty... if I can find the receipt...

I had the same problem last week. The first time this year it had been sunny and warm, and I couldn't go out for a spin. Well, I could, but it's not the same in a Primera. I got a new battery on Friday and everything is cool again. In fact, the car turns over so fast now, the rev limiter cuts in.
