Trigger Resistor details

Second one from me tonight.

What is the size / type / specs of the Trigger Resistor that is fitted between the coil negative and pin 1 of the ECU.

I thought it was quite high - 10k or 100k? As it's using the back EMF from the coil primary, which is hundreds of volts.

Mine never had one was it only fitted on early cars or something ?

If one is fitted, is it in the wire that goes to the rev counter or the wire that goes to the ECU?

Or is the rev counter wired in series to the ECU?
