As the repair snowball keeps rolling and growing....
Looking for the best/easiest way to remove the hoop bar along the parcel shelf.
The lower part that attaches thru to the rear outrigger is disintegrated

Is it safe to remove this bar when the body is off the chassis?

Hi mate yes it is.The cross bar is in two pieces that slot together, with 3 bolts through the body from memory. the two uprights anchor your seatbelts top and bottom plus the door striker plate so make sure they're repaired properly. I'll post up a couple of my photos which may help.

Judging by the state of yours I'm guessing your A pillar uprights will also need work. For some reason I found those even more of a PITA than the B pillar ones.

Perfect!
Thanks!
Haven't gotten to the a-pillar yet, actually I probably wouldn't have thought to check...

Here you go. These are post repair, needed plenty of welding on the bottom plates. Not much metal left after sand blasting.
