Starter motor is down by the exhaust manifolds by the drivers feet. It's fiddly but can be changed in situ. TVR Parts sell them at a good price. Just double check the starter relay and both main power lead and engine earth lead as these can also cause issues. Also a dying battery can appear to be a starter problem when in fact it's a dead cell on the battery, as I found out a few weeks ago.
Yeah with the earth strap check both ends, the battery -ve post and the end bolted to the back of the cylinder head. Clean up connections with sandpaper or wire wool. Also clean the battery +ve post connection.
Another thing to check is the red/white striped starter wire which can get baked as it passes behind the manifold, and get brittle, then snap inside.
Also you can get good replacement starters cheap from 4x4 places, the modern ones turn the engine over a lot faster. I think about 80 quid?

Thanks a lot for the replies I ,ll. check the wiring and give it a clean it was strange started first turn of the key after three weeks then after stopping for fuel there was nothing no clicking or anything just the noise from the pump . Anybody think this could be related to my misfire ,hesitation
I had a very slow starter motor when hot, like when stopping for fuel. A new starter motor helped but the real issue turned out to be a corroded earth lead to the battery. The outside looked fine but the inside was all rusty and corroded so the heat must have increased the resistance so much it couldn't get the power.
