My 350i passed the MOT today for the first time in my ownership (2.5 years) Yay! Not road legal until Sunday though as not paying a months VED for 2 days.

Noticed on the pass certificate that it has only done 111 miles since 2008. Did 8 miles until tested again in 2009 and then 16 miles when tested again in 2013. I put on 12 miles just getting it MOT'd.

Needs a dusting off now. Might need to replace the master cylinder though, clutch got stuck to the floor 3 times on the way back from the MOT station cry Already replaced slave, clutch and release bearing all looked ok when I had it apart so Master looks most likely.

It's rough as fk looking but I quite like it that way. Mechanically not too bad. Can't get enough of that V8 soundtrack.

BTW picture conveniently hides all the scabby bits on the front end and worn out interior

Thats going to need some tlc before you use it. Lots of little trips getting everything warm but going gently and if all is ok it will need some ragging!!

Yep, will be going gentle initially. Local trips to get used to it. I've been through it mechanically, new brakes all round, had the engine, gearbox, re diff out, refurb of engine, gearbox selector bushes etc. All done on a shoestring budget to be honest but happy with results and to initially fail the MOT on just lack of pedal rubbers and the indicators deciding to stop working on the way to the test station was a good result.

Need to drive it a bit more to see if the clutch pedal issues persists. Gauges are all over the place as well. Temp and fuel stopped working on the drive back from MOT and the Volt meter gauge bounces around whenever i put the indicators on. Gotta love old British electrics!

Hi mate

I guess you have cleaned all the earths...one bunch on the lower N/S suspension turret...two on the rear of the N/S rocker cover/block...

Dont worry about scabby paintwork....it doesn't effect drivability ...Poppy has auto-eczema on her rear end...smile

|My car had done around 300 miles in 10 years when I bought it - 6500 miles on the clock. That was maybe 10 years ago, 85000 on the clock now, and starting to look a little scabby around the edges, but at least I use it and get the enjoyment.

Yeah keep the mechanics good and the exterior "rat" - and use it - best way to be.
