Hi everyone, my name is Tom. I just wondered if anyone here could help me. I have never owned a TVR, but have always wanted to. I am considering changing my car for a 390SE if I can find one, or maybe a 350i. Does anyone know of anywhere I may be able to rent a wedge for a weekend so I can get of proper feel of what ownership would be like ? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

No where exists like that - I'm 99.99999% certain.

Your best bet is to go to a local owners meeting or wedge event (like BBWF) and talk to owners and see the cars. I'm sure owners will take you for a spin..

Your profile does not say where you live ..

There used to be a classic and sports car hire company that may have a wedge as 7 years ago I nearly rented mine through them. The deal was that they serviced the vehicle and insured it and paid a standard monthly rate plus bonuses if the car was rented. They told me they didn't expect any bookings but it would be good cover for the Griff and Chimp they had should someone want a TVR for a particular date and they were both out !

Was about 200 quid a day to rent and they were going to pay me 300 odd a mth basic. Fell through when they couldn't satisfy me on the insurance front and searches showed the company was only a year old. Can't recall their name but I think they were based Milton Keynes area - an internet search may show something up.

Otherwise I doubt you would find an owner willing to part for a weekend - they're not really like an Escort van - but I guarantee there are plenty who could take you for a spin and let you in on the pitfalls.

Have you looked at the wedges for sale in the PH classifieds ? Also there's a 390 on ebay at the moment - see other thread

I'm in North Kent and will be happy to take you for a long run in mine in a couple of weeks, once it's all back together.

Let me know...

Thank you very much indeed, that would be fantastic if you really don't mind. I can't do anything for the next 3 weekends, but am free after that.
