Princess Calipers

Does anyone know the part numbers for the princess calipers, or know if they use the same spacers to space out the outer half (for vented disks) as the Rover SD1 4pot calipers?

The SD1 caliper does look VERY similar... but then so do the standard 2-pots!
A far as I know, the 10mm spacers are no longer available (only 8mm). I've resorted to milling my own...

Would you be able to make some chinese copies of the SD1 spacers for me if i were the supply an original?
(theyre for my other car, ie the SD1, not the wedge, that already has vented princess calipers squeezed into the wheels)

Iain, Have you tried the SD1 calipers on the wedge?
I have been looking into these as I have it on good authority that they will fit, and have the advantage of bigger pistons which equates to more force to the pads. This does mean slightly more pedal travel but this can be overcome with a bigger Master cylinder bore.

They are very heavy. I used to use them on my TR. I changed them for some closed back AP racing calipers which I used instead. I Don't need them anymore

Ok, I seem to of cause some confusion, sorry. It's not strictly a Wedge question

I have a Series 1 280 FHC, i also have a Rover SD1, my dad also has an SD1

The 280 is running vented Princess calipers (squeezed under the 14" original alloys), the my SD1 has the standard 1 pipe plumbed solid discs, my dads has the Vitesse spec 2 pipe vented discs.

The spacers on my dads calipers *look* very similar to my memory of the ones on the Princess caliper, and was wondering if its possible to space my standard SD1 calipers using Princess calipers, as oposed to having to plumb in a second brake line etc. Although i guess it is possible to plumb them like i've done on my Pricess calipers and only use a single feed.

The sure way is to dismantle my wedge calipers and try on a spare set of Rover ones that we happen to have, but this is alt of hassle if someone knows the answer of the top of their heads. While I'm tinkering on Monday, I'll unbolt one of my Princess calipers and compare & contrast if anyone is interested.

OK Iain, I grasp that you don't want to put SD1 calipers on the TVR, but I'm still struggling with the rest
Are you wanting to use spacers from the Princess calipers to split the SD1 caliper so it will take a vented disc?

sorry, yes, Split the SD1 calipers using princess spacers, cos i cant find a source specifically for the SD1 calipers.

Why couldnt I of said that in the first place?

I could perhaps draw round the Princess spacers and send you the drawing; you could cut it out and try it against one of the spare SD1 calipers?

I'll see after this weekend's tinkering. You wouldnt have a CAD drawing for the spacer would you?

hello,if you fit vitesse calipers to a wedge you need bigger brake discs,approx 275 mm.The mounting lugs/holes are in a different position compared to the princess calipers.To check compare the distance from pistoncenter to mounting hole one both calipers types princess/SD1.Good luck.

I have posted this before, the land rover used princess calipers with a 10 mm spacer, there was a guy on ebay selling them, they were about £30 +pp but the bolts supplied were to big and I got the right size at local motor factor. Available mail order from someone called Mal at [e-mail].
