Rear Shock absorbers

Garren From Australia TVR Wedge 1988 350i
about six months ago when i stared a chassis overhaul on my wedge i purchased a set of Spax Rear Shock absorbers from (DC Performance). When they arrived they weren't fitted with spring seats. i made an inquiry to DC Performance and the insisted that's how they were fitted in the factory. all the research i have done conflicts with what the say. (SEE PICTURES) Can any one help me with aquiring spring seats so i can fit the original spings or some other sping and seat alliterative?
Its too late and too expensive to return them now.

I can't see the picture on this PC at the moment but having a look at the Spax website it looks like they sell two types of damper, one height adjustable and the other fixed. It doesn't say they come with springs just that they have adjustable spring seats. Does the original spring fit the spring seat?

The original in a koni and has a welded spring seatthe new damper shows a tiny collar on the bottom. this might be the spring seat for a 1.9"ID coil
this said....the damper pictured is definately wrong.
spax dampers always have a stamped number on the bottom of the damper body (near the adjuster)...feed mr. google with this numebr and see what he tells you.

Isn't there a big clue in the photo at the top of the thread?
If you don't intend rebuilding the Konis then just cut it off the old shock and file the hole to size.
I know I should use the seats on the Joni’s . They are on the car at the moment and are still working. I’m a typical nutcase car guy and can’t trash them because they ar working. Also the sleeve on the span is lower than the spring seat on the koni. So I would still have to make up a spig seat with a spacer. If you don't intend rebuilding the Konis then just cut it off the old shock and file the hole to size.
