Hi,
I've got a new niggle with my wedge - low tickover when warm (as now). This has caused stalling when put in 'drive', not good.
I noticed cracking on a part of the FI stuff (photo) - putting my finger on the cracks immediately caused the tickover to rise to a much happier r.p.m.
I'm hoping it's as simple as an air leak causing the issues, but what's the offending item called? This is in the optimistic hope that I can locate a replacement as a preferred option to doing a bodge (the strife I had in recently locating a warm-up regulator is still fresh in my mind!).
My Haynes Granada book doesn't have a description for this bit.
Thanks in advance,

Ian

Ooh, that's a good idea, and it appeals to my Caledonian caution...

As long as you remember its a temp fix...if you forget about it then it may come off and end up in the engine...you may be able to seal it from the outside with some tiger seal or similar...

Oh definitely a temporary fix, and I would do the repair from the outside (I had visions of what might happen if I started putting something potentially detachable inside the system!). Just awaiting a reply from the e bay seller for some questions about the item.

Just want to note that the two sellers called it a "Metering Head Air Outlet" so future searchers might want to try that term too.

Tigerseal PU adhesive works well filling stuff like this.

Hi, thanks for that, I've already done the inner tube repair idea to keep me going till the (hopefully good and correct) replacement part arrives.

Oh! Bicycle repair man, however can we repay you! Yep, I am that old.

Inner tube fix (photo for your delectation) worked a treat, tickover perfect now. And it looks so much better than an elastoplast.
Just waiting for replacement part to arrive so I can do it properly.

Many thanks to all for your help.

Replacement Metering Head Air Outlet arrived today. It's the right one, and in good condition, so after a good clean, on it went. Interestingly it came with a reducer/adaptor to connect to the air hose - perhaps the absence of this bit previously was causing stress to the outlet hence the tearing.
Running well again. Deep joy!
