headlmps stop engine!!!!!!!!!
Discussion
Panic on...Put headlamps back in etc. Tryed to work, did not stay up,side lights on, no main beam. Fiddled around switch Ok. Started the engine as battery out of puff. Switched lights on came up but went down again. Tryed the flash sequence and immediatly knocked out the engine. Oh no I thought! started up the engine OK, but does the same thing again and again.
Anyone got any ideas ?????????

From those symptoms I would suspect the lighting circuit is pulling down the switched ignition circuit. This may be because the lighting circuit is drawing more current than it should (possible short circuit?) or it could be because there is some resistance in the switched ignition supply (corroded/overheated contacts). Does it do it when you switch any other loads on - heater fan, for example?
I agree. It does sound like a heavy load pulling down a 12V line for ignition or possibly ecu.
If your confident with a DVM measuring current then monitor the suspected power lines in turn.
Also try removing fuses and relays for the lights and pods. Hopefully this should stop the stall. If so start to replace them one at a time untill you find the problem.
If you dont have a DVM then you could reduce the fuse rating on the suspect circuits and see if for instance the ignition is taken out when you flash the lights, but you will use a lot of fuses this way!
Hope this isn't telling Granny how to suck eggs.
Best of luck
