Accelerator pedal stuck full throttle last night....frit the life out of me !!
Went to classics on the green Croxley.
Great turn out btw. Few TVR. My wedge, Dave the chimp, at least one other chim, a Tuscan and at least one Griff.
Anyway, had to press and lift back on the pedal despite soaking footwell joint in WD.
Seems to be grinding at that point rather than the cable.
Monkey boy reckons the pin is a common fail.
Anyone had this ?

+1 if frays at the pedal end before snapping off.
My last one I removed then re-soldered the ferrule on the end after plaiting the frayed bit nice and straight. It has lasted for years since.
THen the imporrtant bit - before refitting, go over the back of the pedal arm with a rat tail file to deburr it, or it will cut through again.

I've had something similar. The throttle pedal was sticking so I thought I would replace the cable. When I removed the cable there was nothing wrong with it. Looking at the problem further I removed the pedal from the car and found it had started to bind on it's pivot due to rust and dirt. I lubricated the pivot and worked the pedal until it freed up. I haven't had any problem with it since.
