Instant flooding turned out to be faulty ECU however

Fired up engine after rebuild, ran for few minutes while filling coolant.
When restarted ran lumpy and started chucking out black smoke ! until finally stalled.

Restarted eventually but ran lumpy and stalled very quickly.

Have good spark (new leads,coil,plugs,dizzy,rotor)
Have good fuel pressure
Have had ecu reconditioned
Tried new amp module

Any suggestions please?

Possible that temp sensor in inlet manifold faulty?

Just need some guidance as running out of money to chuck at it!

Are you saying you ran the engine with no coolant in to start with, or filled it with coolant then ran it to check for leaks etc?

Sounds like either there is something that harms the ECU, but i've been told that's not possible..... Or maybe it wasn't repaired that well. Most easy solution is to try an other ECU if someone will let you borrow it, that way you can see if it's indeed the ecu or if there is an other problem.

As it's very rich, and not just misfiring on one, perhaps its the cold start injector that's stuck open. Try plugging it and see if there's any change.

Otherwise the ECU could still be faulty. Sounds too rich just to be a result of the temp gauge.

CHANGE THE WATER TEMPERATURE SENSOR!!!

It's always the first thing on the list when fault-finding. When it fails it goes too-high resistance or open-circuit and the ECU will run everything far too rich.

Also check the wiring between ECU and the sensor.
