When I was at the Ace Cafe meet last Friday someone asked me - was it you Stever? what I used to re-coat the rear arch section (you know the lower nice curvey bit)

'Simoniz Stone Chip Guard'

- has good smooth matt black finish.

The trick is getting the masking tape to do curvey

Definately think the smooth side was the best and yes I can imagine the masking will be fun!

Mind reader I was just thinking about this, I seem to have a clear plastic cover around those areas do I remove this or paint over it ?

Clear plastic? - could be a nice alternative, just having colour to this shapey corner. Is this the same stuff that is usually applied to nosecones? Must be impossible to apply to the area we are talking about without creasing though?

Anyway, to answer your question Hamish, the plastic might not provide enough of a key for a paint finish to bond to, so might be best taking them off, if using paint.

However, be very wary if you want to pull them off (I pulled a plastic zoning transfer off my wifes Fiat uno door panel, few years back - took the paint off with it - be warned!!)

If you want to play safe, I reckon that the Simoniz stuff I used will stick to anything, maybe just key the plastic first, using bit of abrasive paper.
By the way, this stuff sprays on with a few runs (cold temp when I did mine), but they dissapear when dry and with silky matt finish.

I'm told the way to remove body transfers is to warm them with a hair drier or similar. Maybe it'll do the same with this.
