I feel a bit embarrassed for asking, but I've got a mystery, leaking pipe under the Tasmin. The cause of the leak is easy - the pipe was touching the exhaust. The fluid coming out is oily and black but anything would be as the chassis has been sprayed with black waxoil. It doesn't seem to particularly smell of anything. The pipe runs mainly on the nearside and I've traced it at the back upwards between the seats part of the floor. At the front it crosses to the offside and enters the car at the grommet that also guides the heater, handbrake and bonnet release cables. I can't locate it inside the car, and I can't make out where is disappears to at the back. It's not the petrol pipe(s) . It doesn't go anywhere near the brake M/Cyl so it's not that.
I've run the engine and pressed the brake pedal, but nothing comes out of the melted part although it clearly has been as there's a fair bit of liquid on the chassis and exhaust. The pipe is about 1cm thick and woven steel inside the hard plastic casing.
All thoughts gratefully accepted!
