Bah, bloody tin cars

I had the chance to swap my Mk. 3 Spitfire for an Alpine when I was 18: the Alpine had just been takedn in at the local breakers and was still complete, but needed work.
Needless to say, the pressing urgency to drive over-rode the desire to own a better car, so I passed on it.
Also needless to say, I kicked myself for years after... but not as much as my dad, who swapped a Merc 300D 'Adenauer' pillarless limousine for a Zephyr Mk IV.
In no time at all, Zephyr's were worth nothing, whilst in the classic car boom about 15 years ago the 'Adenauers' were changing hands for £48,000...

Notice the homemade quarter bumper tied on with string.
