Adjust Handbrake ?
Discussion
Anyone know how to adjust the wedge handbrake.
I know there is usually a small adjustment on the cable but we should not over tighten this .. as it causes binding.
The adjustment should be on the caliper I think - do you have to remove a split pin and wind out the piston - or something like that ?

I didn't know there was a caliper adjustment?
Looking at the XJS Hanes book of lies it shows cable adjustment at both ends and says the caliper is "self adjusting".

I've never had to adjust the cable, just the calipers.

As the pads wear the automatic adjusters in the caliper should take up the play. Unfortunately they don't seem to work very well in the TVR, I suspect that there isn't enough travel in the handbrake to make them work properly. It should only be necessary to adjust the cable if it stretches.
If you disconnect the cable from the calipers, then move the caliper arms back and forth you should hear the automatic adjusters working. If they don't then it's possible to adjust using the big screw at the top of the arm (this does the same thing). I think this screw should also have a pin through the head, not sure the automatic adjusters would work without it. Be careful not to over adjust, as when you reconnect the cable it will pull the arms in quite a bit.
