Clutch and master cylinder

can you help please?

what proprietary items are the clutch and the clutch master cylinder for the 420 SEAC (the odd one)?

Clutches for high performance cars are usually some item from somewhere else - e.g. 70's Lamborghini clutch is a Bedford truck clutch!

I recently fitted a clutch slave cylinder allegedly from a TR6 and it seems to have done the trick, but it seems we now need a new master cylinder. I thought I might as well fit a new clutch whilst we're at it!

pretty sure both items are std Rover SD1, so consequently probably a large number of BL cars

JJ - it should be a :

AP Borg & Beck

HK6076 (clutch 3 in 1 kit) about 241mm plate
23 teeth on friction plate..

That is what was on my old 400 SE and should be pretty standard.

It's a big job - usually engine out.

So figure on 12~14 hrs labour.

Rimmer Brothers supplied the master cylinder I fitted to the SEAC , just a standard SD1 unit .www.rimmerbros.co.uk failing that Robsport should be able to help , and don't forget the Devon facility !

Slight case of - Yikes! on the time to change clutch - I'll wait and see what the mech says if it needs replacing or not.

Is it really necessary to take the engine out?

Some people have said that it's possible to just swing the engine forward in the bay, without actually lifting it out.
I doubt whether it makes much difference, since you need to take just about as many things apart to get it that far.
