Repaired Rev Counter
Discussion
After the false start and a lot of time lost with Autotek / Speedo Jim, I finally got a fully functioning rev counter in my wedge. I sent it to John Ostick (www.jdo1.com), all sorted for under £40, included postage.:D
My wedge has the early style Stewart Warner instruments.
Very impressed with the speed of service, I was going to phone him up the day it should have arrived with him and ask if he could have it sorted by the weekend. But he phoned me up the same day to confirm the address so he could return it.
These notes he made on the instrument may be of interest.
Notes... Repair! calibrate for6 cyl’- ve earth... in my opinion the movement used is to delicate for auto use... it is basically a precision panel meter designed & balanced for mounting vertical & reading from 8 o’clock to 4 o’clock & as such will be affected by vibration etc... unit calibrated @ approx I5 degrees to vertical (PTO>) the circuit employed is very ‘old fashioned’ & does not have any ‘Integrated circuit chips’... do not loosen the nuts marked with white paint I do not over-tighten the connecting nuts (not received).., do not allow anything to enter the unit through the bulb hole or spray oil into the movement (as someone had !) do not touch the calibration screw (under my label) as it is very sensitive!
