Headlight Pivot Bolt Problem?

Tonight the nearside pivot bolt of the nearside light pod has come adrift. So the pod cannot be raised squarely and so jams part way up.

I have looked in the SH Bible and, it seems a straight forward enough job to get at it. I guess the wire that secured the bolt has perrished?

Any tips out there or any thing to look out for while I'm fixing it?

Mine is a 1989 series II 350. Anyone know which relay I need to remove to disarm the nearside pod motor?

You could just disconnect the battery after raising the pods rather than relay hunting. I also had to replace the same bolt recently and found it pretty straightforward.

UPDATE:

The wires on both bolts had come adrift.

I have screwed the offending bolt back in. But it is "spinning" (will not tighten) when it gets all the way in. It is working for now and has obviously been like that for some time.

Could I re-tapp the captive nut in the nose cone to fit a larger bolt? Or am I in danger of breaking out the captive nut?

Well you could retap. Be tricky to line a drill in there though to get the tapping size right, and too much force with the tap will surely create a more difficult problem to solve. What about a thin nut between pod and captive?
