I was pleasantly surprised over the weekend to get an e mail from a guy in Germany (New PHer t244) who has just bought my old 400se from a 'restoration place' near Hamburg!. Apparently it has been stood outside for several years , unused and is now in a bit of a state, but he is going to restore it.

Older readers will remember that my old wedge was rather lovely (and exceedingly quick). I had spent a fortune getting it absolutely mechanically spot on.. Hopefully it's just cosmetic stuff - paint, veneers, carpets etc. and nothing majorly mechanical is broken.

Looking at the pictures he sent me today it has lost its centre caps and there is a small amount of damage to the nose cone. It has also been fitted with a bizarre rear silencer that looks like something off a Porsche 911 or similar. (German noise regs?)

The story goes that the car was bought in order to donate the engine to a TR8 rebuild!!!!!!! Thankfully that little endeavour has bitten the dust and the wedge will live to roar another day.

I've asked our German friend if he will post pics of the restoration on here.

My former centre cap milling chap has started using his milling machine again so I may have some cheap and cheerful centre caps on offer soonish.

Hello everybody,
I am the one who bought the TVR. My name is Lutz and I live near Hamburg. I was not looking for a TVR, but a few days before Christmas I heard, that a Wedge was offered nearby. Spontaneous I inspected the car and just bought it.
I don’t know much more from the history than Andi already wrote.
The car looks one side not bad, but on the other side really worn.
In the moment I’m trying to put into operation as much as possible to be able to see what needs to be repaired. Second step is to take off the body to repair the chassis. It will take a while until the wedge will be back on road. The awful silencer from the picture is already disappeared
From time to time I will report from my progress and ask some questions.

@adam quantrill. Please contact me, if you can help I case of the center caps.

So far until now.

Best regards
Lutz

Ha - I didn't really take notice until you pointed them out... how do you get the car up on them? With that frigging big jack?

They look like a good idea for us wedgers as there's usually enough height above the lid to raise the car quite a long way.

Those stands are good but lacking locking bars to connect them all together
