280 gas gauge replacement cross reference

Anyone know of a cross reference to a more common in the USA (TR, MG, etc.) gas tank sending unit for a 1985 280 with Smiths instruments.

Any info would be much appreciated.

Hmm, I think I'm VDO (1986) but can check this weekend. The sender for mine is way rare apparently. I took the old one out and cleaned it and it came back to life. B*tch to get to and fiddle the 5 screws/bolts out/in on stands.

Is it a 5 bolt hole or 6?


If 5 then you might consider using an adapter ..

For whatever it's worth, my VDO sender has 5 bolts.
