The how-to instructions to bypass the fuel pump seemed simple to follow:

"requires safety module to be substituted with a headlamp relay"

So I did some searching and found the safety module is cream colored. Which I assumed was was the Engine Run Sensor but the connector isn't compatible with a relay. I'm using the USA version of the manual.

What am I missing??? Thanks Grady

Thanks but mine is a 280i so I think everything is different. You certainly have colorful relays though.

Grady that style of connector is also used to connect the driving lights at the front of the car.
Looks like you might have to make up your own "loom", presumably you will just have to bridge
two of the connections to make the pump run. You might be able to work out which two from the wire colour codes.

Just in case anyone searches this thread... No need to worry about a by-pass kit:

I made a long (6-7 foot) jumper between the + side of the pump and the + side of the battery with alligator clip ends. With the relay connected and the key switch to on, the the pump is powered. Can't really drive with it but works for static testing.

I found the + side by determing which side (the other) had continuity with ground. Grady
